cosmic, why do you keep saying that the atheist's belief that there is no god has to be absolute. I don't see that in the definitions. I believe to a high degree that there is no god. That is not an absolute belief.

Do you believe in Zeus? If not, are you a zealot for not believing in him?

To acknowledge that there are no certainties does not mean that a position cannot be taken. It all boils down to probabilities. If I let go of a pencil, I believe, based on past experience, that it will fall to the floor. I am justified in holding that belief even though I know that I can't be certain that it will fall to the floor like it always has before.
