Noranda missed Rio Algom which may turn out to be a blessing. Billiton is now booked and not likely to make any more significant acquisitions for awhile.
Noranda could use refining and smelting capacity in Europe and may look at Boliden as a take over.
Noranda may want Antiminas reserves and could bid for Teck to get control. There is only one mining Keevil left, Teck is small potatoes relative to it competitors so a friendly takeover could be a blessing for both companies. Even though Noranda is more focused on mineral processing than mining it cannot afford to neglect its copper, zinc reserve base which is shrinking, it has to keep up with the big internationals who are using their cash flows and asset bases to gain commodity control and thus commodity price stability so it has to make some acquistions and soon. Any takeover candidates suggested?
