Frank:

Welcome to our little board!

Satellite VOD would be an evolving entity. DirecTV would be the first example where pay per view movies are available every 15 minutes or so, allowing you to find what you want roughly when you want. As it evolves, and we are starting to see this now, providers will throw a large hard drive into the terminal(TiVo, Replay, DishPlayer) which can digitally record any content and make it available to the consumer at their leisure. With the arrival of the satellite broadband constellations, I am certain terminals will include very large hard drives as an evolution of the personal recorder. This should allow the download of video at the demand of the consumer. It will be interesting to see how the systems handle a diverse consumer base that demands a diverse content. Can satellite handle this Start-from-the-top-nomatterwhat-VoD? It is not clear at this time. I can see consumers able to order up content and get it in short order, but I will wait and see if they can get it at their whim.
