<<But Avici has at least a six month lead.>>
<<How good is their code? Won't know until it gets into carrier labs.>>

Oh I don't think that much - and the code is apparently just fine. Charlotte's has been in trials for months too - they already PASSED their first Betas mid summer with a "strategic partner" and a "major carrier", which they did not reveal. They now have several more. However, immediately after that Williams Communications and Sycamore Networks took investment positions in them.

<<Charlotte's Web is not a shipping product yet.>>

They ship for revenue this quarter. To whom I wonder, hmmmm.

<<Clustering is not a scalable architecture.>>

One logical system, managed as one, but consisting of multiple boxes is not scaleable? Here is what Charlotte's says:

"The Aranea-1TM Cluster architecture enables the connection of multiple Aranea-1 machines into a single virtual router with an aggregate bandwidth of multiple terabits per second. The clustered systems may be managed as a single virtual router, regardless of the routers physical location. Up to 16 interfaces may be combined into a single "trunk-pipe" delivering OC768 (40Gbps) for inter-cluster links, using DWDM technology (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing). "

Please explain further how Avici is scaleable and Charlotte's is not. Oh, and how far apart can those Avici boxes be? They're direct connected. Aranea boxes can be miles apart.
