Compaq: Comfortable with Inventory Levels HOUSTON (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ - news) said on Friday that it is comfortable with third quarter channel inventory levels, in response to industry concerns. Industry analysts regard inventory levels for personal computer makers with great importance, since slow-selling products or computer parts become outdated in a fairly short period of time. Dataquest and IDC are set to issue third quarter shipment statistics over the weekend. The company said it will report third quarter results after the market closes on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Compaq shares closed at $27.70 on Thursday.
