New ABC poll gives Bush 16 point lead!

Bush leads Gore by 16 points, 53 percent to 37 percent, as the candidate likely voters trust more to “hold down the size of government.” And Bush wins critical battleground groups on this issue: Women, independents, moderates and the middle class. It broadens his appeal. . .

This poll was conducted by telephone Oct. 12-15 and Oct. 17-18, 2000 among a random national sample of 1,770 likely voters. The results have a three-point error margin.
