Ojing,

I see what you mean. If you save your search as a template, the results page will note the name of the saved template, and allow you to edit your template from there.

If you don't save your search, though, you won't know what you were searching for if you don't hit the back button.

How specific should the page be, though? When searching for a word like coddington it makes sense to say no results found for coddington.

However, when you narrow down your search parameters according to subject and person, etc. it can get a little more complicated. Some "no results" messages might need to be as complicated as no results found for "microsoft" and "software" but not "gates" in the "Welcome to Silicon Investor" subject written by "John Busby" or "Ojing Eo" to "BryanB".

Any suggestions for rules surrounding the no results message? Should this be posted on all pages, regardless of the number of results?

Thanks!
John
