Passion is great in areas where reason is not important. I would argue that when deciding what is best, in a huge multicultural country like ours, reason is the only way to go. The greatest good for the greatest number, and the least harm to the minority- always keeping in mind the future generations (something I do NOT feel we focus on enough).
