BUSH TELLS A WHOPPER.

In that last debate, Dubya claimed that the Estate tax is unfair because it double taxes the rich. Well, he was lying. Most wealthy people make far more money each year from capital appreciation of real estate, stocks, bonds, or any other investment than they make in actual income. When they die, it is this capital appreciation the estate tax captures, far more that any double taxation of the income generated from the property. If the estate tax were to be repealed, the single greatest tax loophole in the history of mankind would be torn open. The rich would buy growth stock and real estate and never pay a penny of tax on any of the appreciation from their gains.
