You opened a whole can of worms.....I would like to make a point before I go out for lunch and then would like to discuss it further when I return.

Give this a bit of thought: How far is society expected to go in helping drug users/abusers (the terminology is one of personal preference)????? There is a group in Vancouver BC that is lobbying the Provincial (Socialist) government to have hard drug use declared a social problem, not a criminal problem as it now is. This group, if successful, according to their lawyer, will then be able to have users declared "ill" .......they publicly declare and demand "free" (taxpayer funded) housing as well as having govt employees to supply and administer their drugs to "protect" them from possible harm from dirty needles, etc.

Let me sing for a while:

Where oh where has the common sense gone,
Where oh where can it be?????
