<<Why aren't more young men going into teaching?>>

Reasons are more diverse than you state, there is the whole right brain/left brain thing. Teaching is greatly verbal, many very sharp men who are very good at other things aren't comfortable in the verbal realm.

Everyone has heard about & most understand the highly liberal "official" make-up of the public teaching profession in most areas. If one is conservative, they simply would rather not be there & more men are conservative than women in the US while most women are more liberal.

Women are generally (in the US) more security oriented while men are more money oriented - in their early working live. Teaching in the public schools is (by & large) secure & the deferred compensation(retirement) if often FAR better than in private industry but the immediate money only pay is often poor.

Just depends what you want.
