In today's very sceptical, "show-me" environment, having the stock price jump up like MSFT has, means the market thinks earnings were GREAT (not just adequate). The most important thing was that we DIDN'T hear any of the warnings that so many other tech companies have said: lower guidance, falling margins, rising inventories, falling ASPs, etc. And, in particular, I don't think a lot of people have realized that the fortunes of Intel and Microsoft are diverging, so a lot of people were expecting a MSFT warning to follow the Intel warning.
