>>Also Gilder seemingly promotes and
overstates the prospects of companies such as Global Crossing because
of personal friendships, in this instance Gary Winnick.<<

Actually, Gilder has stated that he didn't know anything about Gary Winnick (or his background with Milken and Drexel)when he first looked into Global Crossing - and soon went on to recommend it - (after having first posted about it here, on this thread, back in Oct. '97...or 98? I forget which).

>>Finally during my membership I wrote several times to the
Gilder Group asking them to make a full disclosure of the various
equities they write about and when they make either make a buy or sell
as many others do, such as Jim Jubak etc.. I never received an answer. <<

Gilder often points out that he does not, under any circumstances, trade among his "recommended" stocks - he initiated this practice a couple of years ago. I believe the only stocks he currently owns from his list are GBLX and one or two others (not even his favorite, Avanex) that he bought prior to this policy. (He stated recently that his largest holding was in Wave Systems(WAVX),the only company in which he's a director).

It's interesting to see so many people turning on him now..must be some kind of contrary indicator...

Then again, it's kind of a predictable stomping of the sour grapes that you'd expect after another autumnal downturn.
