During the conference call, Jorma O'llila used the term "blockbuster" to describe Nokia's results during September. From everything I can observe and am being told, 4Q will be absolutely stunning. There appears to be a strong likelihood for record margins in the handset business.

I believe Nokia has an unspoken goal of reaching 50% market share and, once reached, more still. During the cc, Jorma was asked a conventionally vague question about what Nokia's (Jorma's) goals were going forward. After stating that he had said quite a bit about that topic already, he added "We are here to dominate." This is something an American CEO would never say so frankly, yet there was none of the enthusiastic bravado and cockiness that American CEO's so often exude on cc's when talking of bright future prospects after reporting commendable results. Nor was he bragodocious, just as focused and serious as can be. There appear to be few obstacles in their (his) quest at present and none particularly formidable. Siemans? A rejuvenated Ericsson or Motorola??
