Mad2, Even though I avoid margin for the reasons you mentioned, (assuming that most of that is long [naive assumption]) it does provide some extra liquidity to fuel the tulips. (the naive economist in me again) Isn't a quick wholesale exodus of margin debt a surefire way to generate a crash (tulips or non-tulips), which would be bad unless you like crashes.
