How many times did I read that the market was "revaluing" and that "telecome spending was going to cause a slowdown in equipment sales." Both comments, though perhaps true for some sectors of the technology market, may not be so relevant for the f/o sector. Lucent aside, there simply is no evidence whatsoever of a slowdown in the buildout of fiber optic networks. Indeed, the component companies are increasing capacity at record levels and STILL can't get enough product out the door fast enough.

And I think it should be noted that JDSU and SDLI longs have been saying as much for months, fighting what seemed like a losing battle against uninformed journalists and LU-based analysts. I hope the nay-sayers catch hell from their clients when it comes time to explain. "What do you mean you thought there was a sector slow-down?" "What proof did you have?" "Did you interview vendors?" "Did you interview carriers?" "Did you interview components suppliers?" "You mean to tell me you based your beliefs on one ISP going into receivership --- and you didn't bother to find out if this was an isolated incident?" "And what about component shortages and manufacturing expansions --- didn't this tell you something????"

And so on. . .

Preaching to the choir, I know. :)
