I think you're right about the polls, Flapjack. Yesterday even Judy Woodruff on CNN had to give a disclamer on their Bush 10 point lead poll, admitting it conflicted with every other major poll.

It is possible though that if Bush has HUGE leads in the western rocky states and the deep south ex Florida, plus in Texas, then if Gore has narrow leads in many of the battleground states and even in California, that Gore could still win or be tied despite losing the popular vote. It is possible.

At present time I'd say Bush has a 1-5 point lead. Gore has not yet turned it around despite his mastery of the issues which people care about the most. It's really an enigma. Opponents say "people just don't like Gore" but that's puzzling. I find Gore much more likeable than Bush and twice as genuine. We'll see how many people agree with me going forward.

I believe that so long as Gore wins Wisconsin, Michigan, Tennessee, the Northwest, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania he should be able to squeak out a victory. I assume he has Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. He Gore wins Florida or Ohio Bush can forget about it. Those are must-win states for him.

Wiold cards - Arkansas, New Mexico and Missouri which could go either way.
