Hi Darlene, Those numbers are close for my personal income, and yes they are assuming no deductions. I'm also including UI and CPP premiums, which are a tax as far as I'm concerned (becuase I will never see a penny of it). The Frasier Institute in BC (a conservative think tank) did a comparative study of tax in Canada and tax in the US. It found that Canadians pay almost twice the tax that our American friends pay(including deductions).

I just felt like doing a little Canadian health care rant, but luckily for everyone here, I've suppressed it.

Regards
Jay

PS. Living in Calgary I feel like I'm in the only sane pocket in Canada. I think you said you used to live in Manitoba? I was watching the Mayor of Winnipeg (an openly gay man) crying at a press confrence, becuase he felt Stockwell Day would outlaw homosexuality. Arggggg! I'm never going to get my 17% flat tax.
