Paul,
RE:"It is now 10/21/2000 = and if Intel launches the 1400 MHz and 1500 MHz Pentium 2 in a month's time, AMD will be wondering how they are going to compete against Intel ANYWHERE.

Remember - Intel's claim that they will ship hundreds of thousands of Pentium 4's this quarter puts the production of Pentium 4's at a level commensurate with all of AMD's >1000 MHz AThWIpers."

---

The Mhz gap between P3 and P4 is wide enough to drive Jerrys limo through. So you are saying that Intel will sell hundreds of thousands oh P4s, basically in one month or less and they won't be in time for Christmas? I have my doubts, NOT THAT THEY WON'T have that many to sell since they will have probably stockpiled a bunch by then because of the delay in the i850...but mainly because of resistance to Rambus...
I wouldn't be surprised if you can't get a P4 system from anyone but Dell shipped to you before January (maybe even February), 2001.
Perhaps we will see 1.33, 1.4, 1.467 and 1.533Ghz Muskoxes by then.

Intel will be able to sell some as novelty items because they will just lower the price and offer the $70 for Rambus. But they don't want to have to do this forever.

Basically, all I see is Intel limping P4 along until another chipset comes out and then really ramps on .13.

Jim
