Paul,

RE:"When AMD sells Kmart 62's for $30, they are "being agressive""

No, when anyone sells chips for <30 they are either desperate or stupid.

RE:"When Intel sells CPUs for <$40, they are "dumpster diving"."

Perhaps you aren't aware of just what dumpster diving is.
It's when you wind up head first in the dumpster while trying to retrieve something, often what you've already thrown in.
Now, Intel can sell Microsoft chips that they would normally have to throw away...that would add a lot of profit. Of course I know this really isn't going to be the case unless low end is 800 Mhz and lower by the time X-box comes out and X-box uses 733Mhz. Then Intel will have a place to sell all that overcapacity of low end chips. Otherwise, I don't know if e-machines could take 'em all.
At any rate, the margins will be low until .13 P3 which you say Intel has never formally announced...

Jim
