In fact, monopolies are illegal. The European Comission doesn't allow monopolies, and since this is a global world, it matters.

In fact, all agreements between two companies, that reduce competition, are illegal over here.

The big difference is, that the EU doesn't have many remedies if a company violates this law. But it would have risen to an international political level if the DOJ didn't sue MSFT.
