Bruce and all,
This thread is almost a quarter old since its inception, I want to reflect on our experiences and share a few thoughts about future direction.
First of all I hope it's been a profitable, enjoyable and entertaining 3 months for everyone. I know it has been for me. We're our own assets, each has his/her own strength and weakness, resources and limitations. Put together we are a lot stronger. Take for example HOMS. Although I brought it to the thread's attention, it's many other posts of research materials on the subject that reinforce our belief that it was a good short and it was. The information needed must be timely, one person would not have enough time to do all the work. Many thanks to all contributors.
I'd like to promote that kind of cooperative and proactive efforts. So here's my proposal. This proposal adds to what many have already done for the thread. We need an army of in-house research staff to gather information in a timely manner. Sources of information include but are not limited to fundamental data, financial data, message boards, SEC filings, press releases, company web site, insider trading activities, communication with company officers, technical analysis etc...
We're all amateurs yet everyone can do something to contribute. In the end we all benefit.
If anyone is willing to volunteer as an "in-house research staff", please let me know. If you can also let me know what specific areas of research you are most comfortable with, it helps. Once you volunteer, you'll be called upon with work requests. Of course no one is available at all times, and that's OK. Needless to say, you're free to "resign" anytime. Since there's no compensation to start with, there's no severance pay <g>
Finally I strongly believe in reg FD (fully disclosure). So our work should be presented on the thread in public view. Nothing to hide, nothing to fear. Say it as you see it, right or wrong.
Regards,
Tom |
