Amy,
About the 56% Server market share that Intel recently captured - this is from IDC per Intel's CC.
Intel dominates the low-end of the Server market (and everyone knows that, so no news here).
The real news though is: Intel now dominates the >$10k server market (which I believe Sun formerly dominated).
I would bet that the 56% is units, though, not revenue. When you add up all the Sun Solaris, HP, IBM and Compaq Unix, Compaq NSK, even IBM mainframes, that's a lot of bucks. Still, 56% against all that, even in units, is quite a stat for a type of server that didn't exist at all until the Pentium Pro. When was that, 1995?
You're right - Sun was an excellent investment over the past. However, I'm not confident about Sun's future stock price (and no longer hold the stock).
For your sake, I hope you were not too early selling. They do seem to have the MO, like they say in football.
