Football hero John Elway's MVP.com struggling

By the Associated Press

DENVER (October 21, 2000 6:42 p.m. EDT nandotimes.com) - If he's going to save the game for his online
sporting goods company MVP.com, former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway might need another of his
famous last-minute comeback drives.

Despite record sales in September, MVP.com missed a fourth-quarter payment to marketing partner CBS
SportsLine.com.

SportsLine spokesman Alex Riethmiller said MVP.com's traffic is strong but has suffered along with other
online retailers in attracting investors.

MVP.com spokeswoman Paula Davis said the company hopes to have another round of financing in place this
month and projections call for a positive cash flow by the fourth quarter of 2001.

Elway, who retired from the Broncos last year, joined two other superstars - Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky
- in a partial purchase of MVP.com last December.
