I don't know for sure, voice may or may not be the killer app, I thought the ability to use everything, voice, data, video conferencing, over one pipe with one provider was the thing. That covers all bases to that customer. To do that you have to be able to separate it all somewhere in the network. That is where the gateway comes in. If WSTL has agreements to interoperate with the gateway vendors, then their product has a future. I know CMTN has those agreements. (I have no position in CMTN) You say EFNT is working with LU. That is great for EFNT. BTW, LU and NT have the most to lose here. If this VoIP or VoATM or Vowhatever takes off, then there is less demand for their 5Ess and DMS switches. LU should be focused at getting that done.

You talk like an expert on R&D. Are you really? You don't even know to whom you are lecturing. You can have thousands of people in R&D and never get a good product out of them (BELL LABS) That does not mean they will have a good, profitable product. I look more to the interop issues being resolved than the technical horsepower. The only reason WSTL is still in DSL is they interoperate with ALA DSLAMs.

That is exactly the kind of comment that I am complaining about. Adds no value whatever to the discussion. If you are going to come to a thread of a competing "pick" than yours, grow some thicker skin. Go watch AG or another good short, they will show you how to instill fear with your attack and not sound so whiny about it. It really destroys the effect.
Your posts were clearly to get people to sell WSTL and buy EFNT. Mission accomplished. Go back to yahoo.

Yeah, they are real powerful up until they lower the cost of FTTH. When does that happen? Or until the market decides that DSL is just to complicated to install/use (can you say ISDN?) and go the cable modem route. As per Bill C. facts, there was a drop in equipment sales overall last Q. Was that due to poor planning by the RBOC's or poor acceptance by their customers. The service providers can quote equipment needs going forward, but after this quarter I am not confident about those numbers.
If customers don't buy DSL, EFNT is toast too.

This is the second time, and last for me. Everything else is irrelevant. I am just looking for the best exit strategy. I don't care whether is WSTL better or worse than EFNT. That is your crusade.
