Paullie, yes, the bulk of the gains will probably be from the larger caps. And that is why our ports are weighted more heavily with the larger caps. Notice I use an equal number of shares as a simple way of weighting my ports. . . generally in lots of 100's so that I can trade them in the extended markets if I must.
And as far as which stocks I am holding presently, take another good look at our Long-term Portfolio. This is about as close a look at my hand as I am willing to show. Yes, I hold that many DIFFERENT issues. Yes, the weighting is similar. Mid and small cap weighting is fairly light, considering the same number of shares for each takes the dollar value of Mid-caps down quite some ways from those of large caps. . . .and small and micro-caps represent considerably less percentage of the total portfolio.
I have made a few changes over the past week. . .dumping a few and adding a few others in their place. Perhaps I'll get more time tonight to share those changes.
But all in all, that port is very close to ideal in my opinion. . . . provided of course we are not blind-sided with a barrage of bad news. . . though it seems to be quite resilient of late.
As for my RB LT Port critic, you guys should make your own ports. . .you may use this port as an example, making changes as you see fit. We positioned into many of these plays over the past 2 weeks. . . so we have seen substantial gains from our positioning. But one person is adamant that we start the October Port from last Friday's close, since that is when I posted the list. To me, it doesn't matter any which way. Start it from today, Tomorrow, whenever. . . just remember to refer to it as evidence that our Phoenix plays are greatly outperforming all other tech stocks. And that SOME SORT OF ACTION should be taken in order to profit from this call.
My port rose about 18% in the past 2 days. That made up for several weeks worth of losses, due to buying early. I just wish I had bought even MORE of our Phoenix plays "early". In that case, early was the correct time. . . as many of these are up considerably from where they were a few weeks back.
Yes, I am holding MSFT, INTC, AMD, WCOM, CSCO and other LARGE cap tech stocks. As I said, these are the ones which will rise first. And they have led the techs back with extraordinary gains. And as they soften, I lighten up on them. . . selling off Positions, but holding cores. . .as I always do. Little has changed in that regard.
Oh. . . but on that prior topic. . . the Fool Disclosure Rule. . . .I forgot to mention that companies that "non-intentionally" disclose to brokerage houses before the public. . .will no doubt undergo extraordinary volatility before and after the public disclosure. . .as the price must be manipulated in a far shorter time-period. . . in order to trap the maximum number of investors.
Just what we need. . . more volatility [said sarcastically].
