From a CPY press release October 3, 2000 Burnaby, BC - Canada Payphone Corporation is pleased to announce a joint venture with GSI Technologies USA Inc. The deal integrates GSI’s large, state-of-the-art, interactive City Column and Nova Column video display screens into Canada Payphone's AT&T Canada branded Grapevine™ Network Terminals and Public Internet Kiosks allowing customers to advertise to passing traffic. Advertising revenues from the venture are estimated to reach $500 million over the first five years. “There is tremendous revenue potential from this type of advertising medium, and GSI is a world leader in this technology,” said Bruce Clark, President and CEO. “We are pleased to be able to partner with such an innovator in the advertising industry. This agreement reflects our commitment to providing our customers with the most revolutionary and relevant products in the Internet age. The Joint Venture will be launched nationally in malls operated by Cambridge Shopping Centres and Ivanhoe Inc., two of Canada’s largest retail property managers.
