I would agree with vouchers, I guess, if they could only be used in public schools- but in our district that wouldn't help anyone. The schools are full to bursting- the magnate schools get so many applicants they have a lottery- so the vouchers would be relatively meaningless. People would have their vouchers- but there would be no space for them to use them at the schools they wanted to go to.

Our two disadvantaged schools would still need more money (proportionally)- and that money wouldn't be available to help those schools if no one wanted to go there.

I guess I don't see how the illusion of choice- where there is no room in the desirable schools- is going to help anyone.
