Yes I agree UF. If I was Cisco and such a law was available to me I too would utilize whatever method I could to increase the perceived value of my company while reducing my taxes. From an investor stand point though I don't have a clue what Cisco is really worth, PE ratio etc.. as they are not showing the true cost of their acquisitions. When comparing Nortel, JDSU etc.. to Cisco is like comparing apples to oranges. I REALLY like the idea that when Nortel buys a company it shows immediately in their P&L - for the amount they bought the company at. Like I said. I think it would be eye opening what Cisco's PE would be if they had to use the Canadian tax method. Any guesses what their PE would be after the hundreds and hundreds of acquisitions they've had? Something about a giant ponzi scheme comes flashing to my mind. With their limited and/or eroding market share in the key markets (i.e. the markets that are in tornados right now) coupled with a PE ratio that is probably astronomical if they used accounting methods in line with Nortel and JDSU (what accounting method does FDRY and JNPR use I wonder?). I don't know UF.. I just keep getting a really 'yucky' feel about investing in Cisco. I tell you what though... If Cisco hit the mid to high 60's and the market started downhill a couple of months from now.. Shorting Cisco might be a real swell idea... I could see it crashing through 50 the next time around.

Note: My neighbor exercised all of their Cisco options...
