The Lucent news may create a brief kneejerk spike upward for a day or two, but LU has a LONG way to go to correct its problems and regain its status as a market leader. They were fatally late to the fiberoptic aspects of telecommunications and, unfortunately for them, there are a plethora of major players with outstanding management teams that they have to play catch-up with. Any strategic acquisitions they are contemplating (BKHM, AVNX, etc.) will be ungodly expensive and I do not see them regaining market share soon. JMO.
