John, JMHO about Acer is that they are seeing a slowdown that might be indigenous to 2nd and 3rd tier boxmakers (actually, Acer might be a "lower first tier). My reasoning is that you can buy a great PC from highly trusted names like Compaq, Dell, HP, IBM or Gateway for a historically very low price. Check this 800 MHz PIII, 128 MB, 20 GB, 17" monitor, Windows ME, for $1,368 before tax. Why bother with an offshore company whose quality, reliability, service, even long term viability may be in question? Could you get a better price, by 50 or 100 bucks? I say who cares, I'll go with the big brand name, Intel too, of course. - TV
