The via chipset is the only one that supports socket A. If you go back to slot a benchmarks the via chipset lost to the irongate in some benchmarks, won in others, and was overall about the same. Except that the via chipset supported 133mhz memory, and agp 4x, while the irongate did not.

To me this means that the AMD chipset would likely have been vastly superior to the via one if it had all the newer features of the via chipset. I suspect the 760 will be much better then whatever via has.
