I would agree that there is a little bit of a lag effect, meaning market or economic downturn does not IMMEDIATELY translate into people going into bankruptcy or folks not buying art and cars...in the same breath, temporary market setbacks are backfilled in a NY minute and I personally do not see any sustained pain here.

p.s. my mother is an international artist and has experienced a downturn in sales as well and I would have to say that the purchase of artworks or lack thereof is very often tied to people's views on the economy.
