SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 2000-- Cypress Semiconductor (NYSE: CY - news), building on its established capabilities in high-speed data communications solutions, today introduced its InfiniPHY(TM) transceiver, a fully-integrated, 2.5 Gbps Physical Layer Transceiver for high-speed InfiniBand(TM)-based architectures. InfiniBand technology relieves data bottlenecks and dramatically enhances the performance of wide-area networks, storage networks and high performance servers by replacing traditional bus architectures with a switch fabric solution.

The CY7B9260V operates at 2.5Gbps and integrates transmitter, receiver, clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit, SERDES, and 8B/10B encoder-decoder in a single chip. It supports InfiniBand-compliant byte alignment and link training sequence, thereby ensuring interoperability. The device features superior jitter performance to ensure robust system operation.
Availability, Pricing and Packaging
Samples of the CY7B9260V transceiver and evaluation boards will be available in the fourth quarter of 2000. Production volumes of the device will ship early in the first quarter of 2001, priced at $95 for quantities of 1,000. The CY7B9260V is packaged in a 456-ball, thermally-enhanced BGA package.
