<font color=green> Updated Formatting Tutorial

Formattting

Formatting within messages can be done with HTML coding. You can't display different colors within a message, but if you change the color of the first line (as above), it will show in the message preview listing (of 40 messages at a time).

Italics, bold, and fixed font are formatted as follows: (Note: I put spaces inside "< >" so you can see the coding. Take the spaces out.)

< i > to start italics.
< /i > to end italics.

< b > to start bold.
< /b > to end bold.

< pre > to start fixed-space font.
< /pre > to end fixed-space font.

The fixed-space font is useful for displaying tables in the middle of your message. It makes it easy to line up columns, and spaces between columns are maintained.

So, this is bold, and this is in italics.

This is text in a fixed-space font.

And this is not.

And, you can mix formatting.

----------- here is the coding of the above ------------
----------- with spaces added inside the <> ------------

So, < b >this is bold< /b >, and < i >this is in italics< /i >.

< pre >

< /pre >
And this is not.

And, < b >< i >you can mix formatting.< /i >< /b >

-------------------------------------------------------

Special Characters

You can also use upper lever ASCII characters. Some of the more useful symbols are listed below. Either cut & paste (select character, Ctrl-c, position cursor, Ctrl-v) the character from the left column, or type the character sequence from the right column (eg. & #149;). (Note: I've added a space after each "&" so that the character sequence will display below. Take out the space.)
