Hi Scott, since you referenced my post in yours I'll respond by saying I fail to see the connection in your analogy. Are you trying to say you can have morality without God and not drown. I don't believe that was my point. I think I acknowledged that we can make up rules to live by and we can get by IF we all agree. The problem emerges when we don't agree. You can say "you broke the rule" to which the response is, "that's your rule and I'm happy for you. Just don't impose your rules on me." I believe that was the basic line of defense of the Nazi's wasn't it? I think Cos illustrated my point when he said he only stresses consequences (not right and wrong)when teaching his kids. Now Cos is very intelligent so I'm assuming his kids are as well. So it is not wise to rob a bank because if you get caught you go to jail. It's not wrong to rob a bank, as a matter of fact it can be very lucrative, but the consequences (jail), are not good, so we don't do that. To which the kids reply but we won't get caught.(avoid the consequences and do what you want) Kids say the darndest things don't they?
Good day
Greg
