JC,

The point is that there was mass confusion on the benchmarks.

Intel thru clever marketing and help of gaming oriented websites hooked the market on fpu benchmarks.

The latest i saw on FPU benchmarks for PIV was pretty decent spec fp scores.

AMD with a HUGE MHZ lead is demand limited to 3M athlons, even with AMD doing 1.1/1.2GHZ OEM deals at $180/chip.

Its not clear to me how many of those folks in Q1 may jump to PIV -- say 1M.

That provides AMD a real problem on how to grow the biz starting Q1 2001, IMHO.

PS National getting whacked as it preannounces slower comms and PC demand.

Could be ugly tomorrow.

regards,

Kash
