Guess you had your share of ups and downs at an early age.(g) USPS has a good course. The USCGA and the Power Squadron have recently moved much closer in cooperating on boater education, a move I was pleased to see. I had about as much up and down as I could handle in one year. I crewed with my son as he brought back a 36 footer from the St Lawrence to the southern Lake Ontario shore at Oswego, NY last May. The first time I have been out when a boat was stood on it's transom and the props were out of the water almost as much as they were in. Waves were running 5-6. It got the worst when we were about half way across and I remember my son looking at me as if to say "I'm waiting for you to tell me to the hell off this Lake". At the half way point, there was not much sense in facing it all over again so I told him to just keep going. Trip took about three hours longer the normal. Now he has a story to tell all his buddies. Worst part we could not even have a beer of coffee for fear we would knock our front teeth out. trying to take a drink. A mighty thirsty 6-7 hours. JFH
