Telecomguy,
And every time you raise the issue you are discredited.... Why do you think NT is a CSCO competitor now??? Is it because NT is competiting in CSCO's market - routers, switches, edge, content, services, enterprise? Or is it because CSCO is now competiting in NT's market - optics, backbone, service provider? CSCO continues to enjoy carte blanche in the enterprise and continues to grow share in the service provider market. Now, I like NT, I own it... lots of it at this point.... But your comment about Cisco going down because it is expanding into a new market with new competitors simply has no basis.
Now - if NT was entering the enterprise and building a product offering intended to take on CSCO then i would say your right... BUt, NT has everything to lose right now -given the high market share in the sp market and all the while NT is working at gaining nothing in other market. They are using OIE to fuel start-ups that will hopefully take it to CSCO but OIE is being relegated to CPE - a market where CSCO doesn't compete... that's called missed the target. It appears that it will be NT defending themselves. Yes, CSCO does have challenges from start-ups in the router space and in the enterprise.. but it ain't comin from NT my friend. |
