John, Tae, Ad, Jay, others... I think anything we write should be focused. It seems like most wish that we focus on the public/investment community perception of SanDisk as it relates to the key questions: Why is SanDisk misunderstood? What can be done to clarify the market's understanding of SanDisk's business? What can SanDisk do to buff up their image? KEY ISSUES CRITICIZED TO DATE 1) Presentation: website, c.c. format, etc... 2) Differentiation: separating SNDK from the rest of the flash pack (code vs. data storage); getting the message out. 3) Business Model: publicizing unique aspects of SanDisk's book of business (strong IP + manufacturing + consumer markets) and finally, 4) Exposure: why do we only have 4 analysts following? These four points can be easily woven into a single letter. I think we should avoid muddying the waters by firing off a laundry list of unrelated items. Also, the letter should mainly focus on our perceptions of/reflections on the company in an organized fashion, then offer suggestions. *We should expect a written response to the letter. The response should be posted here. We shouldn't expect any special treatment (disclosure). **We should expect the possibility that they say "no comment" or "new regulations regarding fair disclosure prevent us from responding to your inquiries." [I suspect that many companies will begin giving guidance only on a quarterly basis (the c.c.) and then all other information will be given in the form of announcements (press releases) made available to all simultaneously.] Ausdauer
