Ironically, many people also probably wrote the same thing about how intel would bury AMD with the p3 katmai when it first came out, and they were right. The reason why AMD didn't get buried the second time was because the scalability of the athlon core, well take careful note, that you are now overlooking the scalability of the p4 core and the potential lack of scalability in the athlon core.

AMD is in a much better position now in many ways, but they were also in a solid position with the k6-2 right before they got smeared because the k6-2 couldn't ramp up in clock speed.
