Joseph, when a 'fix' is in a 'fix' is in. Do you agree that politicians, with a bit of money and influence, can manipulate the system using low voter turnout?

Are you really completely satisfied that so few elected Bush governor for his second term?

Besides, the Democrats didn't have a candidate who could compete against the son of a president, the hero-worshipping allure of the Texas Rangers and the Bush family tradition of Big Oil and Big Money in the state of Texas. Bush, in that election, outspent his opponent 17 to one. Moreover, those few voters who did vote in that election much have thought: Why not give a favorite son a stepping stone to toward the presidency.

I don't think you realize that Bush winning a second term as governor of Texas, at the time he did and how he did it, was that big of an accomplishment. That election was handed to him by daddy. To win the presidency Bush will have to earn it. I don't think he can.
