I like Intel very much, I have a very large position and I believe in decentralized computing called "peer to peer" computing which Intel will be a player. Steve Milunovich of ML believes in the decentralization model as a retro movement for peer to peer.
Well, tb, you saw one concept "right on bro":
This is from zdnet, this is the paradigm.
Hot new Rumor spreads security updates P-s-s-s-t! Heard the latest about peer-to-peer networking? A new service, called Rumor, uses file sharing to manage anti-virus updates. By Scott Berinato, eWEEK October 22, 2000 9:00 PM PT
You might think Napster is a good-for-nothing application that sucks up bandwidth and pulls down productivity. But for all the stir it has caused, the underlying premise is sound. In fact, the power of peer-to-peer technology could help to redefine security management.
With Rumor, the first five users in a network who log on retrieve anti-virus updates from MyCIO. Those users turn into servers for everyone else on the network. Thus, every time a system gets the latest file, it has the capability to serve that file to another user who needs it.
Rumor, named for the way the technology allows files to spread around a network, is more than a Napster clone. The concept predates Napster, but the stringent needs of enterprise security and functionality required a longer development cycle. ...
