UF,

Interesting article here called "The Network Edge; IP Routers - New Competition To Find The Network Edge", quoting Dell'Oro Group on Cisco market share (and the challenge by Juniper) in core network & edge routers:

totaltele.com

Excerpt:

Sunnyvale, California-based Juniper, which only entered the router market two years ago, is already Cisco's main protagonist in the heavyweight core network gigabit router market. According to a recent report by Dell'Oro Group Inc., of Portola Valley, California, Juniper has 24% market share with Cisco owning 74%. Now Juniper is taking on San Jose, California-based Cisco on a second front. "If you look at the edge space, it is totally dominated by Cisco," said Oscar Panes, senior analyst, edge switching and routing, at market analyst company RHK Inc. of San Francisco, California.

Both the optical arena and VoIP mentioned by "The Phoenix" are worth watching", Cisco wise, IMO.
