HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2000-- Intel Corporation today introduced a family of wireless PC peripherals that frees consumers to use their PCs and the Internet more comfortably and allows them to add multiple devices to their PCs without messy cord clutter.
Called the Intel® Wireless Series, the product family includes the Intel® Wireless Series Gamepad, Intel® Wireless Series Mouse and the Intel® Wireless Series Keyboard. At the heart of the series is the Intel® Wireless Series Base Station, which lets consumers add up to eight Intel Wireless Series devices.

With the Intel Wireless Series Keyboard and Mouse, a person can use a PC while standing or walking around a room without breaking the flow of work or play. The Intel Wireless Series Gamepad unleashes the PC gaming experience by allowing players to leave their chairs and get physically involved in the game without tripping over wires. The base station can link up to four wireless gamepads simultaneously for multi-player gaming, greatly enhancing sports, action and trivia games where two players can go head-to-head or where teams of multiple players compete.
The Intel® Wireless Series Family
The Intel® Wireless Series Base Station utilizes a sophisticated radio frequency technology for reliability. All peripherals in the Intel Wireless Series require the use of an Intel® Wireless Series Base Station, which easily connects up to eight Intel® Wireless Series products to the PC through a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection.
Adding the keyboard, mouse and gamepad is a breeze. Once the Intel® Wireless Series Software is installed and the base station is plugged in, simply press a button on the gamepad, mouse or keyboard, then press a button on the base station, and you're connected. The base station also features easy-to-read indicator lights providing quick notification of the system's battery, connection and activity status.
Featuring a sleek ``made for wireless'' design, the Intel® Wireless Series Gamepad's wireless freedom and fast response delivers the next level of control for sports and action games. A full set of controls includes: directional-pad (D-Pad) for control customization; six programmable action buttons; two, easy-to-reach triggers; and a shift button that doubles the functionality of the buttons and triggers.
For even greater control, the included Intel® Wireless Series Gamepad Profile Editor and Profile Activator Software lets users easily customize up to 28 moves.
The Intel Wireless Series Gamepad also doubles as a computer mouse, freeing the user to configure games, surf the Internet and scroll through documents. The device's built-in LCD indicator displays player number, mouse mode and battery status.
To provide added comfort and flexibility, the Intel® Wireless Series Keyboard features a unique palm-rest that folds neatly into the body of the keyboard for typing away from the desk or in a user's lap. The keyboard includes four Instant Access keys allowing for quick and easy access to Internet connections, favorite Web pages, applications and personal documents. Multimedia control, including CD volume and tracking, and system audio, is also at the consumer's fingertips.
Rounding out the Intel Wireless Series family, the Intel®Wireless Series Mouse is equipped with a scroll wheel for quick navigation through long documents and Web pages. The product's ambidextrous design allows for use for use in left or right hands and lends itself to homes where family members share the PC.
System Requirements
All of the Intel® Wireless Series products come in a matching, sleek and stylish two-tone design. Minimum system requirements are Windows(1) 98, 98SE or Millennium Edition, a CD-ROM drive and an available USB port. The Intel Wireless Series Gampad and Mouse each require three AAA batteries. The Intel Wireless Keyboard requires three AA batteries. The Intel Wireless Series is available nationwide at retailers and online retailers in the United States and Canada. The suggested retail prices for the Intel Wireless Series products are: Intel® Wireless Series Base Station priced at $59.99 ($39.99 after $20 rebate); Intel® Wireless Series Mouse priced at $59.99; Intel® Wireless Series Keyboard priced at $79.99 and the Intel® Wireless Series Gamepad priced at $64.99.
