Informix Software User Conference and Partner Forum Sets Stage for Database-Technology Innovation

Five-Day Conference Highlights the Key Role of AdvancedDatabase Technology In the E-Business Revolution
Informix(R) Softwqre, the database company, a subsidiary of Informix(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:IFMX), will launch its eighth annual User Conference and Partner Forum in Orlando, Florida, Oct. 24 through Oct. 28 at the Orlando Convention Center.
Previously held as separate user and partner events, this year's conference will blend both events to allow users and partners of Informix Software to leverage opportunities for information exchange and accelerated learning.
"This year's conference marks a milestone for Informix Software and our relationships with customers and partners," said Jim Foy, president of Informix Software, the database company. "With a renewed focus on our core database business, we are excited to share our technology strengths and plans while leveraging our customers' knowledge to pave the way for our future."
The event attracts an international audience of users and partners of Informix Software who gather to participate in training, workshops and product-information presentations about database technology and information management. This year, more than 115 user sessions will be held during the conference, focused on business solutions and technology. The sessions will be led by Informix Software employees, partners and users and will cover a wide range of topics including the Web, business intelligence and e-Business as well as tools, application development, servers, server management and enabling technology.
Partner sessions during the conference will be focused on helping partner companies enhance their working relationships with Informix Software. Sessions will be geared to optimizing partner applications on Informix products, learning best practices in sales strategies, and evaluating new Informix products in e-Commerce, mobile computing and business intelligence.
On Thursday, Oct. 26, a keynote address will be presented to attendees of the User Conference and Partner Forum by Peter Gyenes, CEO of Informix Corp.; Jim Foy, president of Informix Software, the database company; and Peter Fiore, president of Informix Business Solutions. The keynote speech will address Informix Corp.'s recent establishment of two separate companies that will focus independently on delivering innovative database technology (Informix Software) and e-Business solutions (Informix Business Solutions).
The exhibition that accompanies the conference will focus on how Informix databases are used by customers and partners to address major business issues. A key theme of the demonstrations in the Informix pavilion will be the ease with which Informix databases integrate with essential technologies of the Internet era such as Java, eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and J2EE, which are the enablers of the e-Business landscape.
