Yeah, it is like that with the whole thing. Only Reagan had an inkling that the Soviet Union might fold, the Democrats said he would play into the hands of the hardliners. Reagan knew that he was putting the economy on the right track, while the Democrats persisted in prophecying that "the bill will come due in the '90s". Clinton kept fighting the Congress's attempts to impose budget discipline, claiming that aiming for balance was futile in the near term. How wrong can they be before everyone says "Enough!".......
