Eeeek. Well, I'd say that you ought to do the research again, and see if you can find a more balanced source. But I don't deny that the Catholic Church looked the other way during WWII. Not sure what they could have done, though. Under canon law, murder, even genocide, isn't grounds for excommunication. If you look at the list, you will see that mostly it's done for reasons that have to do with interfering with the authority of the Church, although procuring abortion, duelling and being a member of the Freemasons is also grounds. (The Freemasons challenge the authority of the Church, so that really comes under the general heading, I guess.)
