As of June 30 2000, UPC's number of total homes passed (consolidated, excluding acquisitions) reached approximately 9.5 million. The number of basic cable subscribers on this basis was 6.3 million. In addition, UPC had 362,000 telephony lines as well as 230,000 Internet subscribers. On an aggregate basis (pro-forma for announced acquisitions), as of June 30, 2000 UPC's total footprint (Aggregate Homes Passed) was 17,767,000.

NTL Group
Britain's biggest cable TV company NTL said on Tuesday it had signed up 86,200 new subscribers in the third quarter and was on track to reach its target of 500,000 customers for its digital service by year end.

NTL said in a statement it had 325,000 digital customers at the end of September, up from 230,000 in the second quarter, and a total of 3.1 million in its core market in Britain and Ireland.

For the third quarter it gained a total of 62,600 new subscribers in Britain and Ireland, 11,300 in continental Europe and 12,300 from its acquisition of Switzerland's Cablecom Holding.

The group, whose investors include France Telecom and Microsoft Corp said it had five million customers in Britain and Ireland including 454,000 off-net telephony customers and more than 1.5 million Internet customers. The group's NTLworld Internet business saw its customer base grow to 381,200, with 80,000 hi-speed Internet subscribers in Britain, Switzerland, France and Sweden.
