Another point to make is with backlog. The B-t-B table is
repeated below followed by the backlog differences between
1999 and this year.

Looking first at the BtB table, the media is reporting the
last 2 numbers from the 2000 column - the reduction from
1.23 to 1.16. They don't point out that in Sep 1999, the
BtB was 1.07. Correspondingly, the backlog added in Sep
2000 was 392M compared to 98M in 1999 which is a 300 percent
increase compared to last year. Also, note that the BL
increase in the first 9 months of this year is more than
double of the entire 1999 year.
